This is something I drew to sort of prototype out what I thought the reasoning Sailor V would have the crescent moon for immediately in the rewrite I started working out in 2010.
Essentially the scene is a flashback to the final day of the Moon Kingdom, where Beryl’s troops have advanced far enough to where Sailor Venus’ decoy status needs to be utilized.

Mainly because I do not have a scanner. And the art that I like to do isn’t manga style. I like to do sculpture more. lol.

I have not read the manga to be honest so I have no idea if there is a background story about them becoming King Endymion and Neo-Queen Serenity in the manga.
In the anime (I have only finished ‘R’ and have started ‘S’) King Endymion was only in it a little bit so there was a lot of mystery to who he was etc. but as we know, he is the reincarnation of Darrien/Mamoru/Prince Endymion.
I have always thought that since he was in the past (on the moon) Prince Endymion, that when the physical body of Mamoru/Darrien died in the 20th century that his soul carried out to be known as Endymion instead of Mamoru because the memories etc were still with him unlike how the memories of Mamoru were erased when Queen Serenity sent them to the earth.
This same thought applies to Usagi/Serena/Princess Serenity. Except that she became Neo-Queen Serenity vs Queen Serenity because her mother was Queen Serenity. Sort of how there is like a King Henry the 8th. they get something added on in their name.
Now, I am really sorry if that confused you! I have also not finished watching the entire series so I don’t know if he was brought back again or anything.
